Helicopter Pilot – Ground School Training
One of the important steps along your journey of being a pilot is ground school. Aviation Training Services offers ground schools for Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Instrument, and Certified Flight Instructor.
For example, the private pilot ground school is your introduction into the world of aviation. Unlike some flight schools or home study courses, where the primary focus of ground school is to prepare you for the FAA knowledge test, at Aviation Training Services our individualized instruction goes deeper than just helping you pass an exam, but we strive to instill in you foundational principles of not only how a helicopter operates but the all important why it operates the way it does. We have found that not only does our more in-depth approach to ground school give students the knowledge necessary to pass the FAA written exam and check ride, but gives students the mental tools and beneficial instructor interaction they need to be better pilots.
I went to get flight time, but the ground school proved to be the most valuable part. All the flight time in the world can’t protect you from what you don’t know and understand …. Bill Hopper trained me like he had 10 hours to save my life, not just obligated to burning 10 hours of fuel. – Don, 2012
Helicopter Ground School classes typically follow a set schedule but we make sure to allow flexibility in the schedule to accommodate student questions and discussion and we encourage student participation in the learning process. Classes are held two nights a week over the course of 14 weeks. We understand that students have busy schedules and may not be able to attend every class, so every student will receive a course schedule and a class outline of the subject matter to be covered in class.
Sample of the subject matter covered in the Private Pilot Ground School

Aviation Training Services’ ground instructors are well-versed in the subject matter covered in each ground school course. Both ground instructors come from an academic background and hold Bachelor Degrees in their areas of expertise.
